General Description
A fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) applied to a rotating pipe by machine.
The system is applied either to produce coated pipes and/or
pre-insulated pipes.
Dimensions
2" - 40" pipe diameter.
6 - 12m long.
Key features
- system specifically developed to resist mechanical abuse during handling between workshop and site
- insulation and/or coating done at ground level in controlled working conditions
- minimises labour working on site - often at a height and in exposed climates
- minimises associated labour subsistence costs such as accommodation
- minimises scaffolding requirements
- minimises on-site build time and allows more efficient project critical path
- benefits applicable to both new build and turnarounds
- available in three main grades: FibaShield FR, FibaShield ISO and FibaShield VECR
FibaShield FR
This grade is used mostly in conjunction with insulating materials to
deliver pre-insulated pipes. The pre-insulated pipes are a combination
of a tough closed cell PIR insulation with a 2mm thick FRP coating.
Optionally, vapour zero perm. polyester/aluminium/ polyester (PAP)
films can be applied.
Allowable operating temperatures range from -190 to +120C. This covers
the key temperature ranges for heat gain and Corrosion under Insulation.
FibaShield ISO and VECR
These grades are used, in conjunction with primers, as corrosion
prevention systems which are extremely resistant to mechanical abuse.
Operating temperatures are from -40 to 80/140C for the ISO and VECR
grades respectively. These coatings are resistant to UV, most chemicals
and sea water.
